Benito Ferrara’s winery is now led by Gabriella Ferrara, who now represents the fourth generation of a family that “made” the unity of Italy: it was 1860 when Benito began to try his hand at Coda di Volpe and Greco di Tufo. Today the legacy of this tradition has been collected by the “Vigna Cicogna”, which certainly represents an intense and authoritative wine in taste, which slowly opens up towards clear and legible flavors. When Gabriella inherited the business in 1994, the winery owned only 2.5 hectares. Over the years, however, it was decided to invest in the cellar, making technological improvements and buying new land. To date, the company’s vineyard hectares are 6 cultivated in Tufo and 4 in Aglianico, in the municipality of Montemiletto.
Here the land enjoys an ideal position, between 450 and 600 meters above sea level, with southern exposure, a hilly position, and a medium-textured texture. All this allows the labels produced by Gabriella to have a very strong territorial connotation, which has allowed them to carve out a place in the national and international market while maintaining the clear profile of the land to which they belong.
