Guardiense is an important wine company in Southern Italy and the largest cooperative in all of Campania, which has become a reference point for the efficiency and high quality of the wines produced. It is based in Santa Lucia di Guardia Sanframondi, in the Sannio Beneventano area, in the Matese mountains, home to wines such as Falanghina, Fiano, Greco, Aglianico, and Piedirosso.
The Guardiense winery was founded in 1960 by 33 far-sighted farmers, convinced of the need to join forces to protect themselves from the discontinuity of markets and vintages. Today the cooperative has more than 1000 winegrower members, for a total of 1500 hectares of vineyards (600 dedicated only to Falanghina grapes) scattered on the Benevento hills, at about 350 meters above sea level. In more than fifty years of history, the constant desire to improve, the strong territorial belonging, and the desire to best express the peculiarities of the Campania terroir have pushed the members to acquire new agronomic knowledge, to acquire the most modern technological favor renewable energies, using an innovative photovoltaic system, and to make use of the help and advice of the best professionals, such as the oenologist Riccardo Cotarella.
